CONSTRUCTION AND ERECTION
Concrete Base Information
At SK System, we can always undertake the erection of all our buildings and garages on request at cost. Our buyers are welcome to use outside or local contractors for this, but the concrete base or piers must follow our architect's design, and accommodate the upward and downward forces associated with steel buildings. We have trusted subcontractors for this if required. Any groundwork contractor should adhere to BS EN 206-1 and have had experience with groundwork for industrial buildings.
We recommend creating a base that is slightly raised above ground level (approximately 14cm). We can assemble our steel buildings on oversized bases and concrete yards but this isn’t optimal. The need for a drip seal around the perimeter of the building is essential and we may need to introduce additional materials to promote a weather seal in some situations. Our construction team
If you choose not to use our construction team, it is always worth contacting various different recognised firms before committing to a contractor, although most reputable companies will have an extensive understanding of constructing a steel building. We are absolute professionals with a very well rehearsed operating system and look to erect one of our average sized buildings within three weeks.
